School Recognised by Ofsted for Strong Culture and Calm, Orderly Learning Environment
The Costello School has welcomed its latest report from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), which highlights the school’s calm learning environment, strong relationships and ambitious curriculum, with inspectors judging the school to be meeting the Expected Standard in every area of inspection.
Inspectors who visited the school in February described it as “a calm and highly orderly environment where pupils are focused and highly engaged in their learning.” They also recognised the positive culture across the school, noting that pupils are proud to belong to the “Costello family.”
Headteacher Andy Conway said:
“We are very pleased that inspectors recognised the positive culture across our school and the strong relationships between staff and pupils. They saw first-hand the calm, purposeful learning environment that our pupils benefit from every day and the wide range of opportunities that help them develop their knowledge, skills and interests.”
The report highlights a number of strengths across the school, including:
Inspectors also highlighted the school’s strong focus on inclusion and wellbeing, recognising the supportive culture that helps pupils feel valued and able to thrive. Pupils benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including sports, performing arts and clubs, alongside opportunities to engage with employers through careers events and work experience.
The report recognises the support and oversight provided by Bohunt Education Trust, which works closely with school leaders to strengthen teaching, attendance and outcomes for pupils.
