Karen was a PGCSE student at The Petersfield school in 2008 and went on to employed by them as a teacher in September of the same year. She became the Director of Science in 2016, having held several positions of responsibility including BTEC co-ordinator, Head of Biology, joint Head of Department at TPS and is still an AQA examiner for Biology. Prior to teaching, Karen worked in human resources where she became a member of the Chartered Institute for Professional Development. It was during this time, that she developed the passion for helping and developing others, but she knew she wanted to do this with younger people and for a subject that she loved, Science.
The Director of Science is responsible for the overall progress of our students in science by developing an engaging and game-changing curriculum for all students whilst supporting teachers with teaching and learning and their continued professional development. Every day is varied and is full of endless possibilities!
