Ofsted Recognises Rapid Progress at Bohunt Farnborough

School News

Students and staff are celebrating a significant milestone after volunteering to host Ofsted to help pilot its new inspection framework. This recognition comes just 18 months after the school joined the Bohunt Education Trust (BET), marking a period of rapid improvement.

The Ofsted visit was part of the inspectorate’s process to refine their new approach to school inspections and was not a formal graded inspection. Instead, it provided an opportunity for Bohunt Farnborough to help shape the future of education standards nationally. The feedback from the Ofsted team was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the substantial progress and transformation taking place across the School.

Since joining BET in January 2024, Bohunt Farnborough has made remarkable progress and is now recognised as one of the top 5% most improved schools in the UK. The School’s performance in English and maths has reached a ten-year high, with 70% of students achieving grade 4 or higher in English and 60% in maths, and significant increases in top grades across subjects such as art, geography and music.

Bohunt Farnborough has also benefited from enhanced leadership, staff development and access to wider opportunities through BET, leading to a culture of high expectations and strong student support. These improvements have enabled students to achieve the School’s best GCSE results in a decade, reflecting the commitment of staff, students and the wider community to continuous improvement and excellence.

Headteacher Daryl Bond said:

“We are incredibly proud to host Ofsted for this important pilot. The positive feedback we received is testament to the hard work, commitment and ambition of our staff, students and families. Since joining Bohunt Education Trust, our community has embraced change and demonstrated what can be achieved when we work together.”

Neil Strowger, Trust Leader of Bohunt Education Trust, said:

“Bohunt Farnborough’s confidence to put themselves forward as an Ofsted test school is clear recognition of the school’s rapid progress and the dedication of its staff and students. We are delighted to see the school’s achievements acknowledged at a national level and look forward to supporting Bohunt Farnborough as it continues to go from strength to strength.”
