In November, Trust Leader Neil Strowger and Director of Education Phil Avery embarked on a productive and dynamic visit to China, reinforcing BET’s dedication to innovative global partnerships and exceptional opportunities for students.
The trip strengthened the robust ties BET already has with Chinese partners, with Neil and Phil visiting eight schools across China, including two in Shanghai, one in Nanjing, one in Changchun, one in Dalian and two in Guangzhou. They also had the privilege of meeting representatives from the British Consulate and two Chinese education groups.
During the trip, BET established connections with five new schools, paving the way for future Chinese collaborations. These partnerships will continue to create invaluable cultural exchange opportunities for the students BET serves – enabling trips to China, alongside domestic initiatives such as visits to the SOAS University and British Museum in London – enriching their educational experience and broadening their global perspectives.
The visit extended beyond school partnerships, to include discussions with the British Consulate to explore ways to further British trade – an example of BET’s commitment to fostering broader UK-China relations. Additionally, BET is excited about the potential for professional development opportunities for staff, which will enhance the quality of education provided across BET’s family of schools.
The trip marks a significant step in BET’s international education strategy. The Trust is committed to extending the partnership benefits to all of its schools, ensuring that every student has the chance to engage in meaningful cultural exchanges with their Chinese counterparts.
