Celebrating Ten Years of BET

During the academic year of 2024/25, BET celebrated ten years of being a multi-academy trust.

What began as a single school – Bohunt School in Liphook – has blossomed into a high-achieving, thriving and supportive family, united by a shared vision of excellence and innovation.

Our Journey

BET’s remarkable growth over the past decade is a testament to a commitment to transformative education. We have accomplished so much together during the last ten years – growing from one school to ten, now serving over 12,500 students and employing a dedicated staff of educators and support professionals.

Key Milestones

2014: BET’s vision takes shape

• BET is established, driven by a passion for educational excellence
• The BET board of trustees is formed, with some original members still serving today
• Priory School in Portsmouth becomes the second institution to join the BET family

2015 – 2016: Expanding our horizons

• Bohunt Worthing opens as BET’s first brand new school
• Bohunt Wokingham follows, marking our second purpose-built school
• Ofsted-rated Outstanding The Petersfield School joins, becoming the fifth BET family member

2017-2018: Growth and innovation

• Bohunt Sixth Form opens in Liphook, inaugurated by Professor Lord Winston
• The Costello School in Basingstoke becomes BET’s sixth school
• Launch of the Virtual School initiative to support disadvantaged students
• First issue of BETTER Times, BET’s magazine, is published

2019-2020: Reaching new heights

• Bohunt Horsham, BET’s first all-through school, opens its doors
• Steyning Grammar School, the largest Church of England School in England and one of only 29 state boarding schools, becomes the eighth BET institution
• Inaugural BET Awards ceremony celebrates staff excellence

2021-2024: Community and continued growth

• BET supports various charities, including the Trussell Trust, during the pandemic
• Third all-staff BET INSET held at Bohunt Horsham for over 1,000 staff
• Bohunt Farnborough joins as BET’s ninth school
• Bohunt Horsham Primary opens to year R!

Looking to the future

To celebrate our first decade, BET schools held local celebrations to recognise the years of dedication and hard work given to provide excellence in education and improve the life chances of children across the Trust. These celebrations culminated in the all-trust INSET day in June 2025.

Looking ahead, BET remains committed to exploring new ways to enhance learning experiences, develop cutting-edge facilities and prepare our students for the challenge of tomorrow.
